Next ridiculously amazing dimension of Wearable Tech: Google.

Posted by Unknown | Rabu, 01 Juli 2015 | Category: | 0 komentar

Every year Google brings something freaky and for sure awesome. This time at Google I/O there something I didn't have even seen in sci-fi movies. They are called project #Soli and project #Jacquard and they are gonna make concept of Wearables something very different.

First talking about the project Jacquard (i.e. fitted to a loom to facilitate the weaving of figured and brocaded fabrics) as the definition says it has something to with the fabric. It is dedicated for manufacturing of touch sensitive fabric.  A giant blue sheet of cloth is laid out on a table here and at various points there were either monitors or light bulbs or phones stationed next to it. There are tiny little instructions too: tap here, swipe here. The arrows on those instructions point to the touch-sensitive zones on the fabric. I'm not sure what makes it tick, but there are larger threads sewn into those zones. When you tap, or swipe, or draw, it acts precisely like a touchscreen. It turns on the music, it draws a line on a screen, it changes the color of the Hue lights. Therefore, What could be mistaken for stitching is actually a touchpad.

Next to talk about is Soli. This something like -  You wave your hand over a disk and watch the screen in front of you to display your hand's position and movement in space. Basically a type of radar. The interesting part is that the chip doing all this is less than a inch square. And what's the neat thing about Soli is that it works even when something is covering it.

Just think of putting Jacquard and Soli next to each other maybe we don't have limited touchscreen interactions and devices. It's a pretty big deal. Thinking of possibilities of these both projects together are enormous.

Samsung to Launch Mac Book Airs Competitor at CES 2015

Posted by Unknown | | Category: , , | 0 komentar

Mac book Air the most loved ultrabook of the times but, Samsung the South Korean Giant is planing to give competition to Apple in the Ultrabook's department also.

Samsung is launching it's new Series 9 2015 Edition which will be shown at CES 2015 i.e. 6th of Jan. According to Samsung the new ultrabook will run 12 hours on full charge and or all obvious reasons the Ultrabook will be very much slimmer and lighter or I would say even thinner and lighter than Apple's MacBook Air.

Samsung's Series 9 2015 will be 0.5 inch in thickness which is less than 0.68 inch Air and weighs 2.11 pounds versus 11-inches 2.38 pound. The Series 9 will have same battery management technique that is used to take maximum performance in Galaxy S5

Talking about the display it will have 12.2 inches 2560x1600 display, which we can see is much crispier than MacBook Pro's 13-inches 1440x900 display.

But major drawback of this Ultrabook will be that it will be much less powerful than Apple's MacBook Air. Series 9 will be running on Intel's Broadwell Core M processors which are meant to be used in 2-in-1 laptops and tablets rather than full fledged laptops whereas The MacBook Air runs on Intel's Core i5 and Core i7 processors on which desktop computer runs. Also the edge of Samsung's notebook where the ports are sort of bulge out, however, which makes it look a bit bulky. The MacBook Air's teardrop design is much more elegant.

Comment below your thoughts about the Series 9 vs Air.

Entering a restaurant and ordering a meal is always tough thing to do for most of us, we always don't exactly know what do we want to eat and sometimes we even go for a wrong decision and have a bad meal and deliberately a bad mood.

But "Subconscious Menus" are recently presented at Pizza Hut Restaurants in The United Kingdoms and are the solution for the daunting task of choosing a perfect pizza. The customers using this Menu are presented with a tablet equipped with the eye-tracking system designed by Tobii-Technologies.

At first the customer is said to see the moving logo of Pizza-Hut in order to calibrate the system and then screen changes and customer is presented with an assortments of 20 Pizza toppings by Pizza-Hut.

And within 2.5 seconds the system by analyzing your eye movement and the largest time the customer stared at a particular topping presents a Pizza which suits best on the results and 98% customers are reported happy with the " Subconscious Menu's" Pizza order. Customer can restart the process by just staring at the on screen restart button.

So, this might be helpful in future to solve our "restaurant problem" by all means. Comment below your Thoughts about this innovative Idea of Subconscious Menu.

Vehicles Without Motors. Linear_Motors

Posted by Unknown | | Category: | 0 komentar

Wow seems to be some crazy stuff but you read right. I always fantasied this thing that cars and bikes should also move on roads like the Maglev trains does on the tracks. Texchange a U.K. based company has come up with this idea. They have come up with a new concept of linear motors. Now what actually is this linear motor

Think of a normal Three-Phase Electric Motor cut till the center and unwrapping it till it becomes straight. As you can see in the pics below. Stator ( the part of motor which has the copper wire ) and the rotor ( the part of motor which rotates )are just flattened up. This creates a magnetic wave that can be used to surf the rotor from one end to the other.

                                                      (pics credit)
By synchronizing a series of those motors laid end-to-end along a track, a reaction plate could be made to "surf" a traveling magnetic wave all the way down that track in the same way as some maglev trains but without the levitation. Attach that plate to the underside of a mine cart, and you get a motor-less moving cart. Additionally, multiple carts could be made to move independently on one track at the same time, going in either direction and at different speeds.

According to the English company the system or the vehicle will be much more efficient, robust, lighter and allow climbing gradient of 20%. Also this idea can be used in the concept of cable-less elevators.

Everything Connected to Everything Internet_of_Things.

Posted by Unknown | | Category: , , , | 0 komentar

Imagining a world where things are connected to each other. By things we mean here not only smartphones or Machines or Computers, here we mean a chair a table a pen connected to each other and everything else in a room or a house.

Seems interesting and also complicated. The thought is really fascinating. I would not say it only a thought as it's becoming reality. All the major economies and technology blocks in the world are investing in it.

What actually will be the applications of the IoT ?

Major applications of the IoT will be in the health sector. Like we will be able to monitor a old age person's heart beat and collect his/her cardiac data while sitting anywhere in the world. Even that person is sitting in New Delhi his/her relatives can get real time cardiac data while sitting in Paris.

Other major application will be in the transport. Connecting cars to traffic signals and other cars will reduce time, money and energy. Even connecting people crossing the roads and notifying them about the.

Even you see whose id sitting on your chair when your not at home. We are heading towards a "Technocratic" world where future generations will make decisions on the technological basis. As we see the concept of Utopia. Not exact Utopia but we will have control over the resources of our planet.

All of this sounds very exciting but IoT has a dark side too. As everything will be connected to everything. Everything includes Humans and animals too!! So, the concept of privacy will become meaningless in a world having IoT. Hacking attacks could be done on massive scale, online harassment and worst of all Terrorism. We all can judge on how large scale these dark things can be done.

So, we need to be much careful in order to have a safe and prosperous future of mankind and this planet.

Breathable air on Mars: The New Space Race

Posted by Unknown | Senin, 29 Juni 2015 | Category: | 0 komentar

Interstellar the movie released this year had shown man a vision of leaving the planet Earth and to prosper on some other planet of this universe. It seems that about in a decade or a two man will be able to breathe on the Red Planet, As the New Space Race has begun which are famous from the times of The Cold War.

NASA hopes to send manned mission on to the fourth planet of our solar system but, not until the mid 2030s. Also the SpaceX and Mars One are talking about the making the trip under 10 years from now. So, whenever it is going to land there some new innovations are about to come.

Students from University of Western Australia and Mars One Astronaut candidate Josh Richards are finalist in the Mars One University competition, which will send some key experiments to Mars in 2018.

The "Helena Payload Project", by the team hopes to extract water from the surface of Mars and using electrolysis to produce breathable air.

The Australian team will have to compete with the Cyano Knights, who hopes to show that oxygen on Mars can be made by it's 95% carbon dioxide atmosphere. "Our experiment will hopefully pave the way to ensure the survival of the elected astronauts on the Red Planet, as we attempt to produce oxygen from Martian resources," said UWA engineering student and Helena co-lead, Andre Van Vulpen.

Two students concepts join the MIT's Mars OXygen In situ resource utilization Experiments (MOXIE), which was selected this year for inclusion on board. MOXIE is similar to Helena Project, by using solid oxide electrolysis to peel oxygen off of carbon dioxide splitting into Oxygen and Carbon monoxide.

Naturally, the stakes are a little higher for the Mars One teams, who are looking to test technologies that could generate molecules to be inhaled by real humans in the next 10-12 years, whereas MOXIE will just be conducting experiments aboard a robot.

Comment below your thoughts about Man leaving the planet earth and settling on some other planet.
